WELCOME

Welcome!

I enjoy writing, blogging (lemon-aide), advocating for those challenged by chronic illness/pain and other disabilities. I'm into poetry, philosophy, politics, yoga, canoeing, camping, good friends and most of all my family-hubby and three children (that are just about all grown up).

Over twenty years ago my journey with chronic illness and pain began. It has been challenging, but has also been a wise teacher.

You can visit me at Lemon-aide above, as well as terrific blogs (listed on my blogroll), written by others making lemonade out of life with chronic illnesses.

Passion for Poetry

The Peace of Wild Things
by, Wendell Berry

When despair for the world grows in me
and I wake in the night at the least sound
in fear of what my life and my children's life may be,
I go and lie down where the wood drake
rests in his beauty on the water, and the great heron feeds.
I come into the peace of wild things
who do not tax their lives with forethought
of grief. I come into the presence of still water.
And I feel above me the day-blind stars
waiting with their light. For a time
I rest in the grace of the world, and am free.

that poem describes how I find peace and quiet. I walk out in the yard when I can't make it to a lake or wooded area. I feel just the one with nature that this poem sounds like it means.

    thanks for sharing it.

Hi Judy, Thank you for sharing that the "Peace of Wild Things" speaks to you too.
I read it when I'm worrying about the future (especially about my kid's) and it always helps.
I'm grateful to have access to "wild things"--mountains not too far away and we have a big yard where ducks, squirrels and geese all visit. Sounds like you have a beautiful yard to find peace in too.

Hope you are feeling as well as can be today, Kerry
